Trailer Watch

Monster House
Directed by Gil Kenan

Shucks, you look at a name like this, and probably you wouldn't give it a second thought about watching it. Duh-uh~ It's so... "Scream".. or... "Final Destination". I just hated the name, "Monster House". Sheesh, if people had gotten to this level of creativity. But, boy, was I quite thrilled when I watched the cute little trailer. It turns out to be a 3D-animation flick produced not by Pixar, nor by Fox. Its executive producers are Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg, and the whole visual flair is colourful, playful and imaginative. No spoofing of the homosapiens in other forms (Shark Tales or Robots), just pure childish fun. And I like that. Scream, children, scream! ;)

The Fountain
Starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz

Why does movie titles these days so boring? "The Cello", "The Eye", "The Maid". Hey people! Enough with the "THE" oredi... Sheesh... Anyway, nothing much of the plot is revealed through the trailer. We see Jackman and Weisz in various costumes representing different years. We know they go through 3 life-cycles through the years 1500 to 2500. We know they are supposed to fulfill a certain destiny which most probably involve saving the world AND the universe (there's a spaceship zipping through galaxy in year 2500 scene). So, what's the fountain? *Shrug shoulder* I care only for Weisz after her interesting outputs "Constantine", "About a Boy" and "The Mummy Returns".

Ellie Parker
Starring Naomi Watts

Whoa, this is one great actress we ought to look out for man! From the trailer, we get to see the true wild and naked side of her (almost literally) as she takes on a role that allowed her to let loose. Naomi is Ellie Parker, who races around town from one audition to another, changing make-up, clothes and personality as she speeds along, barely attending to her whirlwind life as she strives to get cast in a movie. She cusses, gestures, makes love (to a gay), and does all sorts of things. The film seemed to be shot on a home camera and it produces an effect that is similar to a documentary. And it does have that effect as we see Naomi prancing around the screen, totally unlike her other movie characters especially in King Kong.
