interestingly, i've picked up the manga craze over the course of my army life. perhaps thanks to terence low and my bro-in-law, kenneth. haha~ have been buying and reading a lot of comics. now i've got a whole shelf full of them. shucks! i feel so sinful.
anyway, i like to say i'm not really a hardcore manga fan lah. haha~ i do quality control for my selection of comics one. but now as i look at my shelf. haha~ i do doubt how good my quality control is. *lolz*
i'll keep using the word "author" below, cause i can't remember the actual word i'm supposed to use? comicist? looks wrong.

My favourite manga! my favourite cartoon character too! those who hav visited my room will know how doraemon-ish it is. haha~ i totally adore him. the bubbly round figure that no living thing resembles now is jus so imaginative and so cute that i just hav to crown him as the most creative icon of the 20th century! in the world of doraemon, you get to imagine what kind of tools you hope the inventors will hav created by the time you grow up. the "sui yi men" (door that brings you anywhere), the "zhu qing ting" (bamboo dragonfly), etc. haiz, doraemon makes me feel young every time. (heyz, not that i'm that old)

ok, this series was introduced to me by my sister, and it was just at the period of time when i'm very into detective stories, ie, Shelock Holmes. (did i spell correctly?) wow~ i must say i really like the development of the more complicated plots, like the case of the Puppet Murderer and the Killings of Kindaichi (yesh~ sounds fun eh?). tho you get very used to the "all the riddles are solved" tagline, i still get wow-ed over by how the author can come up with so many crimes.

at that time, i was pretty curious how different Detective Conan is from Kindaichi, and decided to give it a shot and bought volume 18. it was interesting, but felt the cases were not as good as Kindaichi's. Nevertheless, the plot revolving around the black guys were all worth my anticipation.

those who read manga will prob know how it feels when the comics u're chasing are still far from the publication release date. it's frustrating. totally. (tink harry potter series) and so, in an attempt to try to lose a bit of the anticipation level, i bought this series to read. damn farnie. i totally love the dog character, he's just so irritating and yet so lovable. perhaps due to the fact he's so true to himself despite everyone saying he's so ugly. haha~ now that's what i call confident.

after the kindaichi series ended, the author started this series. of cos naturally i continued to my passion for detective cases on this. haha~

one day i visited my sis over at her place and they were watching the anime for this series on computer. and i joined in. and i got hooked. the story's revolving around the meaning of life and death, the science and philosophy of human creation and so on. it's pretty addictive and meaningful. and the art for the manga series is wonderful and sweeping black backgrounds and extragerating moments.

i'm still not a fan of Naruto, altho i'm faithfully downloading the series every thursday night online. it's just that the funny moments were really funny and that the plot thickens around every person as the series progresses. yet, because of the prolonged fighting scenes and deliberate tear-jerker scenes, naruto isn't all that fantasic. did i say there were some scenes that were awfully drawn? (first awful moment: when naruto and gang left the village on the bridge after fighting Zabusa. eew, wut the hell is that?)

guess how i started reading this. HAHA~ i jus picked it off the shelf cos the cat's damn cute looking. haha~ it's a series about economics and stuff, pretty interesting. my first exploration into the world of econs.

now this is a series i'm totally hooked on now, all thanks to wensen. the art's good, the plot's fantasic and the dialogue between the characters are so well-written that Channel 8's "Tong Xin Yuan"'s script seems written by a primary school kid! there's so much into human psychology and tactics about human conservation that it's worth anticipating EVERY chapter of the comic. wow~
ok, this is another attempt to try to fill up my blog space
la, but i wanted to do this entry before i proceed to fill my second shelf with comics. hurr hurr~
